Iceland Snowsports and Avalanche Science have teamed up to hold a mountain skiing and avalanche course in Akureyri on the 9th-12th. March and 23-26 In March, a course will be held especially for women.

 

All the main safety issues when it comes to traveling in the mountains will be covered. The course includes Avalanche Training 1 and the AAA Rescue module which is part of the REC1+ course.

Participants must have the ability to ski in powder snow and have some knowledge of alpine skiing or snowboarding equipment. Bring your own rescue equipment. It is necessary to have a good backpack that holds at least 32 liters. You need to get some snacks, drinks, skins, general outdoor equipment, and a showel. If you have a backpack with avalanche protection, that's a good option.
